Splattering Tutorial from the Stampin' Up Blog

I enjoyed reading this article, so I thought I'd share it with you.

THE ARTICLE BELOW IS FROM THE STAMPIN' UP BLOG AND WAS WRITTEN BY CHRISTINA N, STAMPIN' UP CONCEPT ARTIST:

"Today I wanted to demonstrate some basic techniques for creating different splatter sizes. I like to use the larger Aqua Painter for all of the splattering I do because the bristles hold more ink. I start by filling the Aqua Painter with some Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill and rubbing alcohol. The more ink refill I use, the darker the splatters will be. "

Small splatters

"Squeeze your Aqua Painter to get some ink into the bristles. Then lightly tap your Aqua Painter on your pointer finger and over your project."

Medium splatters

"Squeeze your Aqua Painter to get ink into your bristles. It’s basically the same motion you used with the small splatters—without the tapping . . . and you will want to hold your Aqua Painter more upright. Quickly move your Aqua Painter towards your project and stop abruptly. You’re basically trying to fling the ink onto your project."

Big splatters (drops)

"Hold your Aqua Painter vertical—and high above your project. Squeeze the Aqua Painter and let it drip onto your project."

"Another fun technique you can try is mixing VersaMark Refill with rubbing alcohol. This will leave sticky splatters that you can cover with embossing powder, like our Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder."

Flower Pot Note Card made with Stampin' Up's Secret Garden Bundle

The inspiration for this card came from a fellow demonstrator, but now I can't remember who it was (I'll find the name this weekend and update then).  I saw it on our Demonstrator website; Stampin' Connection.  Thank goodness for the website because you just always need inspiration!

This card was made using the  Secret Garden Stamp Set and Framelits.  The colors are Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Lucky Limeade, and Whisper White.  After I die cut the flowers, I curled them with my bone folder then sponged around them with Tangerine Tango ink to give them more appeal.  The Designer paper I used is now retired, but any colors would look great on this note card!  I made the card to fit into a regular sized envelop, so it's about 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Stampin' Up Dress Up Framelits Card

Hello everyone - I'm so happy that the Dress Up Framelits made it to the NEW 2013-2014 Catalog!  I know you've all seen these dresses everywhere, but I just wanted to show you one more example.  The patterned paper is from the Comfort CafĂ© Designer Paper pack (now retired).  Cardstock colors are Soft Suede, Pool Party and Very Vanilla.  The phrase is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and I cut it out using the Bitty Banners Framelits.   And finally, the two ovals were die cut using the Ovals Framelits; I ran the scallop oval through the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!
