Sweet Summer Treat Boxes from Stampin' Up Blog

Sweet Summer Treat Boxes Article written by Cindy B., Senior Stampin' Up Staff Writer - from stampin' up! blog
Cindy B., Senior Stampin' Up Staff Writer wrote:

Summer is here! It’s time for swimming, sun . . . and ice cream treats. Check out the following ideas for yummy-looking ice cream-themed gift boxes—and don’t feel as if you have to use these palettes. We’ve got plenty of ice cream colors for you to work with!

The “ice cream sandwich” boxes are perfect for enclosing small gift cards, treats, movie tickets, etc. You could easily make a bunch of these little cuties for family reunion gifts—or teach the kids how to make them! They’ll love making different “flavors.”  :)

Ice Cream Sandwich Supplies:
Round the corners of the Chocolate Chip Cardstock pieces using the Project Life Corner Punch, then pierce both pieces of cardstock using the Paper-Piercing Tool and Paper-Piercing Mat (to create an ice-cream sandwich effect).   Score a 1/2" border on all sides of the 5" x 3" ice-cream colored cardstock pieces using the scoring blade on the Stampin’ Trimmer.

Snip the corners and fold inward. (See picture below.) Adhere the corners to the box sides using Sticky Strip. Fit the box top and bottom together to create an “ice cream slice.”   Enclose the “ice cream slice” in the Chocolate Chip Cardstock pieces. Wrap with the White Vellum Cardstock strip and Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine.  Include a stamped tag to fit the occasion. That’s it!

You might also want to make these posh Push-Pop Gift Boxes. Just wrap a cardboard tube with ice-cream colored cardstock and adhere a cardstock circle to the top (made using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch). Adhere a popsicle stick to the inside of a cardboard tube using Sticky Strip. If you’d like to put a gift inside, punch out another circle, cut a slit in the middle, and adhere the circle to the bottom of the tube. When it is dry, insert the popsicle stick.

Supplies used here: Oh My Goodies Stamp Set; Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, and Very Vanilla Cardstock; Chocolate Chip, Pistachio Pudding, and Strawberry Slush Classic Stampin’ Pads; Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker’s Twine; Stampin’ Dimensionals; Itty Bitty Punch Pack; Big Shot; Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies.

I made one more ice-cream themed project—but this one is a card. I used the Bravo Stamp Set, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, and Very Vanilla Cardstock, Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin’ Pad, Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Big Shot, Ovals Collection Framelits Dies, and the Party Pennants Bigz L Die.

Stampin' Up Wedding invitation and decoration ideas

From Jun 16  - stampin' up! blog

Wedding Bells . . . and Godzilla

Cindy B is Senior Staff Writer at Stampin' Up, and her daughter, Gloria—who works in Demonstrator Support— is getting married. Congratulations!

So Cindy was assigned the cardmaking duties and her daughter's wedding colors are red and brown. Cindy and her daughter both love the Cheers to Love Stamp Set from the new annual catalog, so she began by CASEing one of the cards on pg. 71.

As it turned out, neither Cindy's daughter or her finance liked that card, so she tried again.

The two cards on the right got the thumbs up.

Finally, they settled on this one made with the Real Red and Very Vanilla patterns in the new Flashback Designer Series Paper.  But Cindy and her daughter agreed that it still needed a little something.

She added a layered butterfly using the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly Punches. (Though the embellishment looks like a Basic Pearl, it’s actually a Basic Rhinestone.) She also used Crumb Cake Cardstock and Gold Foil Sheets. Cindy cut out the oval frames using the Big Shot and the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies.

Then they needed invitation inserts, so Cindy created them using MDS—and yes, those ARE Godzilla figurines. (Cindy's daughter, Gloria and finance, Robby are both big fans).

Cindy's daughter and her fiancĂ© are both writers and wanted a fairy tale theme for their reception, so she made faux books for each table using empty boxes, Flashback Designer Series Paper, Kraft, Real Red, and Very Vanilla Cardstock, and the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies.

(The back of the book.)

And here is a banner Cindy made using the Celebration Basics Kit. The flowers were created using the Big Shot, the Floral Frames Collection, Real Red Cardstock, and White Filter Paper.

Donna G. from Demonstrator Training was kind enough to show me how to make tassels for the banner.

I used White Filter Paper. (Donna spritzed her White Filter Paper using Crushed Curry ink.)

Adhere Sticky Strip to the top of the Filter Paper. Make cuts every quarter inch, as shown. Roll up the tassel using a wooden skewer. I stacked a few sheets on top of one another so I could make several tassels at the same time. Tip: pencil lines on the paper to help with cutting.

Cindy will probably be posting a few more wedding ideas before the summer is over! I know we all wish Cindy and her family the best of luck with the plans and wish the happy couple a lifetime of joy!
