Tinting Jars and Numerical Retired Stamp Set List

ARTICLE FROM STAMPIN' UP BLOG 4/23/13; written by Cindy B, Stampin' Up Staff Writer:

Want another way to deliver May Day flowers? Try tinting a glass jar using Mod Podge and Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills. (I used Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Ink Refill for this project.) The process is easy and the results are spectacular.
  1. Add a few drops of Classic Stampin' Ink Refill to about 1 Tbsp. of water. (I used Rich Razzleberry for this project.) Mix with a spoon until blended.
  2. Pour about 2 Tbsp. Mod Podge or white glue into a clear jar; add water and ink mixture. Stir.
  3. Swirl mixture in jar until the sides are completely coated.
  4. Turn jars upside down on newspaper for about ten minutes, then place right-side up to dry for several hours or until clear. To speed drying, put jars right-side up on waxed paper (on a cookie sheet) in a slightly warm oven (about 180 degrees) for 20–30 minutes or until completely clear.
Tip: Don’t put liquid in the jars as it will rinse off the color. I filled one of my jars with white sand and artificial flowers and the other with white sand and a flameless LED tea light. The latter was not May Day-esque, but still looked cool!

Also, I converted the Retired Stamp Set List so that stamp sets are listed by page number; if you'd like the PDF,  just contact me and I'll email it to you!  Have a great day!

Retiring Stamp Sets: Awash with Flowers and Vintage Vogue

These are various swap cards I've received.  A couple had no names, so if you know who made them, please let me know.  The first 2 use the Awash with Flowers Stamp Set:

These next 2 samples use the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set.  The note pad holder we made for a Stamp Camp a couple of years ago and I really love how sponging makes the images in the stamp set look so rich.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to contact me if you want more information on anything I've shown (I'm never sure how much detail readers want)!

Retiring Stamp Sets: Homegrown and Friends Never Fade

This week I thought I better "show off" some great swap cards I've received and haven't had time to post.  I figured I'd better post them before the accessories and stamp sets used are gone!  I love that Stampin Up gives us new goodies, but I hate loosing some great goodies too.  I can tell you that the New 2012-2013 Catalog has NO "food" stamp sets like the Homegrown stamp set and NO beautiful Satin Ribbon.

Here's a great Recipe Card my friend Eva Davalos made using the Retiring Homegrown Stamp Set.  She stamped the artichokes then cut them out and layered them onto the recipe.  I love how she stamped on the Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding Ribbon too!  Eva used Always Artichoke and Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  And by the way, the Dip is delicious!

Here's a great card my friend Kathy Griego made using the Retiring Friends Never Fade Stamp Set.  I love how she enhanced the look of the flower by putting Crystal Effects on it!  Kathy used Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso cardstock.

Have a great Wednesday and don't forget to check out the Retiring Stamp Set List and the Retiring Accessories List (the links are on my right side bar)!  I still have a few of the New 2012-2013 Catalogs available, so if you need one, let me know.  I'll give you the Catalog for FREE, I just ask that you pay the Priority Mail Shipping and PayPal fees totalling $5.40.

Peace Within Card and 12x12 Cardstock Help Needed!

Here's a beautiful card made by fellow Demonstrator Sage Kimball; she used the Peace Within Stamp Set that will be retiring the end of May. Peace Within is a great stamp set and the images look wonderful colored with Markers, Aqua Painters, or Blender Pens!  Make sure you order Retiring Stamp Sets before they're gone - see the list HERE and don't miss out!

Also, I wanted to ask for some help from my readers!! I have A LOT of 12x12 Designer Series Paper packs and 12x12 Simply Scrappin' Kits. My question is: What's the best way to ship this large paper? Do you use Priority Mail or regular mail?  Where do you get the envelops to mail this large paper?  The envelops I've seen are expensive (about $2 each) and when you add that cost to the cost of shipping-it starts to get expensive.  If you read my postings through my subscription service, you can respond by clicking on "Reply" or you can contact me at:  stampingmaria@yahoo.com.

Have a great Monday and thanks in advance for your help with my paper dilemma!

Update & Retiring List Reminder

Happy Wednesday everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I haven't been able to blog this week because I hurt my back and have been in a Lot of pain. But, I'll be back to it soon!

Also, I wanted to remind you that there are only a couple of weeks left to order Retiring Items.  I know that everyone has probably already ordered what they want, but there are some items you really need to consider, especially if you've been on the fence about them.  The Box #2 XL Die, the Matchbox XL Die and the Bitty Box XL Die are 3 of them.  I know these are expensive dies, but they really are AWESOME!  After looking at the new 2012-2013 Annual Catalog (especially since I've been laid up here), there are NO new dies like these- there are no new box dies - I can't believe it!  If you LOVE boxes like I do, you'll want to consider getting these before they're gone!

Example of the Box #2 XL Die (item #114518)
measures 3 3/4" x 2" x 1 1/4":

Example of the Matchbox XL Die (item #114890)-
measures 2 3/4" x 2" x 3/4" & holds 4 Hershey Nuggets perfectly :

Example of Bitty Box XL Die (item #115967) -
measures 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" x 3/4" & holds 4 Mini Snickers perfectly:

You can check out the Retiring Accessories List HERE and the Retiring Stamp Set list HERE.  If you see an "X" next to an item on the Accessories list, that means the item is sold out.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Stampin' Up Retired Accessories Lists - OMG!!

Here's the Retiring Accessories List 12 pages long: click here to download the PDF version
(the list is long, but great news, some of the items are ON SALE!)

UPDATE:  I just talked to Demonstrator Support and was told that the Paper Snips and Craft Scissors were incorrectly included on the Retired Accessories List.  These 2 items will NOT be retired.

2nd UPDATE: Just wanted everyone to know that the Summer Smooches FABRIC BRADS are sold out  - darn, I loved those!

And here is the Retiring Decor Elements List: click here to download the PDF version

WARNING:  OMG - this list is long too!  All ink pads are on the Retiring Accessories List because the pads are being reconfigured.  Also, look for the * sign, this means that the item is being reconfigured.  Finally, read about the Stampin Write Marker, the craft pad, and the 12x12 cardstock changes below.

Per Stampn' Up:
"Get them before they are gone! The retired accessories and Definitely Decorative (including Décor Elements) lists are now available and won't stay around for long--these items are only available while supplies last!

When you look at the retired accessories list, you'll note that all of our Stampin' Pads are listed. This is for two reasons: (1) Craft Stampin' Pads will now only be available in black and white; and (2) we are introducing a new Firm Foam pad in our Classic Stampin' Pads with the 2012-2013 annual catalog.

The Firm Foam pads offer better ink coverage and, in turn, better stamped images.
In addition, please note the following about the new catalog:
  • Only select Stampin' Write Markers will be available individually (Stampin' Write Markers in color collections will continue to be offered)
  • 12" x 12" Textured Card Stock will no longer be offered
  • 12" x 12" Smooth Card Stock will only be available in select individual colors and color collections"
Bottom Line:  Hurry up and get what you want, because I don't know how long some will last!  I'm going to sit down and digest this list now because even I am overwhelmed!  Happy Wednesday!

Stampin Up Retired Lists to be issued soon plus other NEW Catalog Info!

I made this covered tin box for my sister using retired Designer Series Paper, then I filled it with cards that used retired stamp sets and accessories!  You can see the trend, right? Retired, right?  So, exciting news - SU will issue the Reitred Stamp Sets list on April 15th, and issue the Retired Accessories list on April 25th!  I will post the lists on my blog as soon as SU gives them to us.  Yes, I will stay awake until Midnight MST on the two days and if the list is published, I will post at midnight!

RETIRING INFO:  The Retiring Stamp Sets will be available until May 31st, but the Retiring Accessories will only be available Until Supplies Last.  I don't like to be rushed to buy things, but I've learned that if there's something I really want, I better buy it fast!  The Clearance Rack is a great example of that too; I wanted to buy more Raven ribbon; it was on the Clearance Rack for a couple of hours and Sold Out and I missed it!

We know that the current Catalog will end on May 31st and the 2010 In Colors (Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Concord Crush, and Blushing Bride) are retiring.  We also know that the Decor Elements vinyl wall decor line is retiring and the Simply Adorned jewelry line is retiring.  SU will probably offer charms in the future, but only with a Paper Crafting emphasis.  I really LOVE the Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz colors, so I know I'll be stocking up on those.  So if any of you want a particular color or Decor Element (I really LOVE the Halloween ones!), I suggest you start making your list!

NEW CATALOG INFO:  The NEW 2012-2013 Annual Catalog will start June 1st and go through May 31, 2013.  It will have fewer pages because the NEW Semi-Annual Catalogs (Holiday Catalog and Spring Catalog) will be larger in size and hold more specialty items and season-specifric items that will be taken out of the Anuual Catalog.  For example, the Annual Catalog will still have some Christmas items, but not as many as there are now.  There will NOT be 3 Mini Catalogs anymore, instead we'll have 2 Semi-Annual Catalogs that run for 5 months instead of only 4 months  Yippee!  Especially happy are we that the Holiday Catalog will start August 1st!!!

So, here's my take: Since the New Annual Catalog is going to be smaller, I think the Retired Lists are going to be longer than usual.  I just thought I'd throw this out there because I don't want anyone to freak out when the lists are issued!  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
